NOC history students plan spring break trip presentations
Five Northern Oklahoma College History Club members traveled to New Mexico over Spring Break to study Pueblo history and culture.
Students will make presentations from their trip Thursday, April 20, in Harold Hall 202 at NOC Tonkawa, from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. The presentations are open to the public.
Students who attended the trip included Malachi Biby, Blackwell; Truman Hague, Blackwell; Mark Hodgson, Ponca City; Laura Hernandez, Stillwater; and Maddy Jones, Blackwell. The trip was sponsored by social science instructor Dr. Alyce Webb.
Webb said students will discuss their individual research and tour experiences in a variety of formats, including lectures, exhibits, and documentaries.
“The NOC Social Sciences department offered a special supervised study course for the Spring 2023 semester to study Pueblo history, culture, and art, with an emphasis on Pueblo pottery,” she said.
“Five NOC History Club students spent class time reading and researching the history of New Mexico and then participated in a study tour to Zuni, San Ildefonso, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Students travelled in parallel with faculty and students from the University of Central Oklahoma (Edmond, OK) and Collin College (Frisco, TX), so that students had ample opportunity to network with and benefit from other students’ and professors’ varied expertise.”
