  • Brooke Rains and Carlos Andujar Named Player of the Week

    Brooke RainsCarlos AndujarNorthern Oklahoma College Enid players of the week are Brooke Rains, softball, and Carlos Andujar, baseball.
    Assistant softball coach Garrett Hannah nominated Rains, saying, “Brooke stepped in for an injured Jamie Lowrie at shortstop and did a phenomenal job. She had a batting average of .538 with a home run, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored in 4 games played.
    “While having a fantastic week, she helped us get 4 wins by scores of 9-1, 8-0, 12-1 and 15-3.”
    Rains is a freshman from Washington, Okla., and a graduate of Washington High School.
    According to assistant baseball coach Scott Mansfield, Andujar had a batting average of .545 in 5 games. He hit for power with 1 home run, a triple and a double. He also had 4 RBIs with a stolen base.
    “Carlos had a great start to his collegiate career,” head baseball coach Raydon Leaton said. “He went his first 9 at bats without making an out and reached base safely 13 consecutive times.”
    Andujar is a freshman shortstop from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and a graduate of Cenapec High School.

  • NOC names Player of the Week

    Cade UpshawCade Upshaw of Verdigris has been named Northern Oklahoma College Enid men’s basketball player of the week, his second nomination for the season.
    Greg Shamburg, Jets head coach, announced the selection for the week ending Jan. 31.
    “Cade Upshaw averaged 27 points last week,” Shamburg said. “He scored 31 points at Murray State on Monday, Jan. 25, and 23 points against Carl Albert at home on Thursday, Jan. 28.”
    Upshaw is a 6’0” freshman and a graduate of Verdigris High School.

  • NOC Enid announces basketball players of the week

    Alexis HillCade UpshawEnid Jets basketball players of the week at Northern Oklahoma College Enid are Alexis Hill, women, and Cade Upshaw, men.

    Head Women’s Coach Scott Morris and Head Men’s Coach Greg Shamburg announced the selections for the week ending Nov. 1
    Alexis Hill and Cade Upshaw are the Northern Oklahoma College Enid basketball players of the week.
    According to Morris, Alexis “has averaged 19.7 points and 9.7 rebounds through the first three games of the season. She has also shown tremendous leadership on and off the court!”
    Hill is a sophomore from Byng and a graduate of Byng High School.
    “Cade did a great job leading his team to three wins over 15th ranked Hesston and 9th ranked Coffeyville,” Shamburg said. Upshaw, a 6/0” freshman from Verdigris, averaged 14.7 points, went 10 for 10 from the free throw line and shot 42 percent from the 3 line.
    He is a graduate of Verdigris High School.
    The Lady Jets are 3-1 for the season and the Jets are 4-0 for the season.
    The women’s next home game is at 5 p.m. Nov. 16 against Oklahoma Wesleyan JV. The men’s next home game is at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 against Southwestern Christian University.
