“This summer is our first time to have an overnight Maverick Basketball Camp.  Here at Northern we believe in small instructor-to-student ratio.  Also, at Maverick Basketball Camp we believe the same, striving for a 1:9 coach-to-camper ratio.  In addition to getting personalized instruction from NOC Tonkawa coaching staff, there will also be high school coaches as well as other college coaches that will be providing instruction to each camper.  Current and former basketball players will also be helping with demonstrations and instruction at camp,” said Paul.

Paul said, “Air conditioned dorms will house our campers along with six air conditioned goals and two goals that are not.  A beautiful 6-lane Olympic size indoor swimming pool will be open for campers use and our college cafeteria provides all-you-can-eat meals.

“Our camp goal is to teach young men how to play the great game of basketball the correct way.  Also, to teach the fundamentals of basketball so they will have the tools to continue to improve as they leave camp and the importance in team play.  Finally we want all our campers to have fun and make new friendships that will last a lifetime.”

Paul said the campers will work on ball handling, dribbling, passing, defensive stance, pivots, post defense and shooting form.  Also, post offense, layups, triple threat, pick and roll, team defense, dribbling with cones, shooting form, rebound and outlet pass; V, L and back cuts; help and recover defense, weak-side defense, how to communicate on defense, blocking out and more.
