Sargent and Miles earn NOC player of the week honors
Mavericks Head Women’s Coach Josh Smith announces the Northern Oklahoma College women’s player of the week and Head Men’s Soccer Coach Michael DuRoy announces the men’s soccer player of the week.
The women’s player of the week is Taylor Sargent, a freshman goalkeeper from The Colony, Texas, and the men’s player of the week is Justin Miles, a sophomore defender from Enid.
“Taylor had 8 saves and was solid in net against Butler,” Smith said. “In the scrimmage against Oklahoma Christian, she had a big goal. Taylor's work ethic and ability to step up in big situations has been irreplaceable at the start of our season.”
The Lady Mavs are 1-1 as of Aug. 31 after a 5-1 win over Coffeyville and a l-2 loss to Butler.
“Justin played every minute of all three games this week,” DuRoy said. “He was the best defender for the Mavs and scored a goal against Crowder College.”
As of Aug. 31 the Mavs are 1-2 after a 1-0 win over Cowley and 1-2 losses to Coffeyville and to Crowder.
The Mavericks’ next home game is against Dodge City Sept. 11 with women playing at 2 p.m. and men playing at 4 p.m.
