NOC Tonkawa announces basketball players of the week

Jaclyn SmithTorey NoelNorthern Oklahoma College Tonkawa basketball players for the week ending Nov. 15 are Lady Mav Jaclyn Smith, nominated by Greg Krause, head women’s basketball coach; and Maverick Torey Noel, nominated by Donnie Jackson, head men’s basketball coach.

For the week’s games, Smith averaged 10.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, Krause reported. She scored a career-high 19 points in a loss to Fort Carson in the Husky Classic at Colorado Springs.
“Jaclyn is beginning to get comfortable with the college style,” Krause said. “She’s playing aggressively on both ends and making good things happen.”
Smith is a freshman guard from Depew and a graduate of Depew High School.
According to Jackson, Noel had a great week for the Mavericks, helping to lead the team to a 2-1 mark for the week. In three games, he averaged 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game.
“Torey is an exceptional player and leader for us on the basketball court, but he is an even better person,” Jackson commented. “He brings a high level of energy to our practices and games.He is a great student-athlete and is someone I am very proud of.”
Noel is a sophomore guard from Midwest City and a graduate of Midwest City High School.
