NOC Tonkawa announces basketball players of the week
Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa basketball players for the week ending Dec. 6 are Lady Mav Laramie Edens, nominated by Greg Krause, head women’s basketball coach, and Valentine Sangoyomi, nominated by Donnie Jackson, head men’s basketball coach.
“For the week, Laramie averaged a double-double–14 points per game and 10 rebounds per game,” Krause said.
“Laramie is getting better every day. She is establishing herself as one of our key players. Laramie will play a major role as we progress through the second half of the season.”
Edens is a 6’0’ freshman from Ada and a graduate of Latta High School.
According to Jackson, “Val had a big week for the Mavs by averaging 11.5 points, 14 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. His contribution was well rounded and he helped lead us to victories over Enid, 79-74, and Murray State, 107-68.
“When Val plays well inside, we play well, and I hope he continues his trend of strong interior play. I am very proud of how hard he works on the court, but more importantly, how hard he works in the classroom and for being a great person and ambassador for Northern Oklahoma College.”
Sangoyomi is a 6’11” sophomore from Lagos, Nigeria.
As of Dec. 7, the Lady Mavs were 6-10 for the season and 1-3 in conference play while the Mavs were 11-2 for the season and 3-1 in conference.
