NOC names Players of the Week
Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa basketball players for the week ending Jan. 31 are Lady Mav Darian Hill, nominated by Greg Krause, head women’s basketball coach, and Maverick Dwayne Brown, Jr., nominated by Donnie Jackson, head men’s basketball coach.
Hill earned her third nomination for the season as the NOC women’s basketball Player of the Week.
“For the week, Darian averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game,” Krause said.
“Darian contributes in every way to our team’s performance. She had an outstanding week offensively and defensively. Darian will be one of our key leaders as we finish conference play and prepare for the playoffs.”
Hill is a 5’7” sophomore guard from Newalla and a graduate of Harrah High School.
Brown helped lead the Mavericks to two key road wins over Western Oklahoma State College at Altus and Eastern Oklahoma State College at Wilburton, according to Jackson. “He averaged 7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as well as shooting 6 for 7 from the free throw line,” Jackson said.
“Dwayne is real close to breaking out in a big way for us. Once he has that breakout moment, he will really take off. He has been working very hard in practice, and it is translating to more positive things in games. He is a great person and student and I look forward to seeing his best!"
Brown is a 6’7” freshman forward from Conyers, Ga. He graduated from Rockdale County High School
