Hill, Evans named NOC Tonkawa Players of the Week
Lainey Hill of Wetumka and Josh Evans of Ponca City are Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa picks for softball and baseball Players of the Week, respectively.
In the first game against Sterling (Kan.) College, Hill went 3 for 3 and had 1 run and 1 run batted in. In the second game, she was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. For the season, she is batting .462 with an on base percentage of .481.
“Lainey is dedicated and hardworking,” head coach Kadie Berlin said. “She has always been an excellent ball player, but she has worked hard and improved all of the aspects of her game.”
Hill, a freshman, plays second base/shortstop. She is a graduate of Wetumka High School.
“All-American Josh Evans has not slowed down from last year and this week was no exception,” assistant coach Shawn Neale said. “Josh batted .591 on the week with 13 hits, 4 of those hits leaving the park. Josh had 13 RBI’s and 11 runs scored on the week. The Mavs went 4-1 on the week.”
Evans is a sophomore first baseman and a graduate of Ponca City High School.
