NOC’S JACKSON NAMED REGION II COACH OF YEAR

Coach Donnie Jackson - Region II Coach of the YearDonnie Jackson, head men’s basketball coach at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa, has been named NJCAA Region II Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
In only his third season at NOC, Jackson improved the Mavericks’ overall record from 19-12 his first year to a regular season record of 24-6, one of the best in the school’s history. His conference record for 2015-16 is 15-3.
A veteran coach before taking over the Mavericks’ basketball program, Jackson has placed five players with NCAA Division I teams during his three years at NOC.
“Coach Jackson is a high energy guy who is passionate and cares deeply about the development of his players,”NOC Athletic Director Jeremy Hise said. “Their success on the court is obvious and he deserves a great deal of credit for their tremendous record.However, his development of players continues off the floor and will impact lives.
“We have a great group of young men who are good people on campus, good citizens in our community and really good students in the classroom in large part to his effort and leadership. Donnie is very deserving of this award and it is great to see that his peers notice and respect his hard work.”
