Weigt, Flores named NOC Tonkawa Players of the Week
Kenzie Weigt and Jared Flores are Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa picks for softball and baseball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending March 11.
Weigt, nominated by head softball coach Kadie Berlin, had 6 strikeouts and allowed 1 run in the Lady Mavs’ first game against Rose State College of Midwest City. She was 1-3 at the plate. She won the second game 11-2 with 2 strikeouts in 5 innings and was 1-2 at the plate, including a walk.
“Kenzie stepped up in our conference games against Rose,” Berlin said. “We needed her to pitch both games (due to injuries) and she did. She performed well on the mound and at the plate.”
Weigt is a freshman from Tulsa and a graduate of Jenks High School.
According to Shawn Neale, assistant baseball coach, “Jared threw six innings of scoreless baseball for the win against Dodge City, who went to the World Series last year. He had 3 strikeouts and just 1 walk over those six innings of work.”
Flores is a freshman right hand pitcher from Saginaw, Texas, and a graduate of Chisholm Trail High School.
