The Mavericks raced out to a 3-0 lead at Hill College in the first half, but it took a great penalty kick save by Victor Hernandez to preserve the win. It looked like the game was going to be a blow out as the Mavs took an early lead off a long shot from Edgar Delgadillo. Andy Ochoa was credited with the assist. Seven minutes later Brad Bennions made it 2-0 with another shot from just outside the penalty area. Edgar Delgadillo picked up the assist. Andy Ochoa would make the score 3-0 in favor of the Mavs midway through the first half. It seemed like the rout was on, but Hill scored a late goal in the first half to pull within two at the break. Hill took control in the second half drawing within one early in the half. Late in the game Northern goalkeeper, Roberto Molina, received a red card for a foul in the box giving the Rebels a penalty kick that could tie the game. Victor Hernandez came off the bench and made a great save on the penalty kick ensuring the 19th ranked Mavericks eighth win on the year. Northern is now 8-1-1.
