2016 Mavs Soccer Team

Mavericks Drop Season opener

The Mavericks dropped a heartbreaker to Neosho County Community College to open the season at home giving up a goal in the eighty-eight minute that broke a 1-1 tie.  It was an end to end game with both teams having chances throughout the ninety minutes.  David Espinoza scored a great goal to put the Mavericks up in the first half.  The Mavs were only able to keep the lead for ten minutes as Neosho scored off a corner kick.  The Mavericks had a few very good chances to score in the second half with a few one on ones with the goalkeeper, but weren't able to convert any of them.  Neosho score late in the game when a long clearance by the Neosho defense bounced over the Mavericks back line before Neosho forward Leo Araujo chipped it into the goal.
