Arts Adventure 2026

Arts Adventure invites you to attend a 4-day summer camp on the Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa campus where you will gain talents and skills in the classes offered below. The camp is open to students entering grades 6th through 12th, and to those who have graduated high school this spring.
Blacklight Desert Painting (Kellie Garcia)
Board Game Design (Justin Stier)
We will design and build our own individual board games based on a few game styles. This can involve designing your own characters, rules, and the board itself.
Cartooning (Justin Stier)
Explore methods of creating your own cartoon characters. You will learn to understand simple concepts from what makes a hero or a villain to what is funny or serious. At the end of the class, you will have your own cast of characters for you to imagine your own story.
Contemporary Choreography and Creative Dance (Jessica Swain)
Ready to move, create, and express yourself? Together, we'll learn how to turn ideas, emotions, and everyday inspiration into original dances. From group improvisation to creating your own short pieces, this class will build confidence, collaboration, and creativity on and off the dance floor. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just curious to try something new, come discover how powerful your movement can be!
Digital Escape Room (Brad Matson)
Learn how to set up a digital escape room using ideas from favorite characters, books, or films. Students will learn how to craft clues, create immersive storylines, and challenge players with logic-based tasks—all while exploring elements of game design and storytelling.

Drawing (Jason McNaughton)
This drawing class will develop the students’ understanding of the basic concepts of drawing and their powers of observation via a still-life. Students will be exploring the basic elements of shape, line, proportion, value and space while utilizing a variety of sources and environments to create a finished piece of art. Students will have the opportunity to draw with graphite, colored pencils, charcoal and pastels.
Figure Drawing (Jason McNaughton)
Discover the art of capturing the human form in Figure Drawing! This class will cover the fundamentals of figure drawing, from anatomy to gesture. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, you’ll refine your observational skills and develop your own unique style. Get ready to bring your drawings to life and unleash your creativity on paper!
Jewelry and Ornament Making (Audrey Schmitz)
Here’s your chance to create original pendants, buttons, and ornaments using glass, clay, wood, metal, paper, wire and more. Learn about glass fusing, ceramic glaze and firing techniques and how to create custom cords for your wearable art!
Music Theater Dance (Jessica Swain)
Join us in learning and practicing basic dance techniques while engaging in combinations from some of the biggest hits on Broadway – no previous dance experience required!
Musical Theatre (Chad Anderson)
Come learn some basics as well as advanced techniques in the world of Musical Theatre with NOC MT director Chad Anderson. Students will spend their time putting together a show-stopping musical number that will wow audiences and thrill performers. Break a leg!
Song Cover & Recording (Brandon Haynes)
Unleash your musical talents in the Song Cover & Recording Workshop! This class focuses on covering and recording a song of your choice, whether it’s singing or instrumental. Dive into the process of selecting a song, arranging it to fit your style, and bringing it to life through recording techniques. Whether you’re a vocalist or instrumentalist, this class will provide you with the skills and confidence to showcase your musical abilities.
Stage Makeup (Chad Anderson)
This class will unlock the secrets of creating captivating characters for the stage. Techniques will include mastering the art of old age, bringing animals to life, exploring fantastical creatures, and creating realistic burns and fake wounds. From subtle aging effects to elaborate transformations, you’ll learn how to use makeup to enhance performances and tell stories like never before.
Video Production/Computer Graphics (Brad Matson)
As a group, we will build a visual storyline for a story and learn how to operate a video camera and editing software, followed by creating your own version of computer graphics to go with the visual story. Our group will create titles and credits for the video and will utilize green screen techniques in the final editing for the big screen premiere on Thursday!
Vocal Exploration (Brandon Haynes)
Learn how to use your voice to sing with different styles of music, including classical, music theatre and pop, while possibly adding movement to match. Train your ear to sing in unison and harmony, with the opportunity for more advanced students to solo as well.
