NOC's platform for online coursework is Blackboard, which you can access from the following link or from the myNOC home page: www.noc.edu/blackboard. On Blackboard, you will find numerous online resources to assist with your coursework, such as calendar alerts and free online tutoring access through Tutor.com; the link at left labeled "Student Directions for Blackboard" also has many frequently-asked questions and answers about how to use Blackboard. Student Services for Distance Ed Students
Whether students are taking classes at one of our physical locations, online, or through ITV (interactive television), we want to make sure they have access to all of the services needed for success. Key student services are provided both on site and through electronic access for all of the following.
Academic Advising and Career Counseling
Once students have declared majors, they are assigned a faculty advisor in that discipline. Students who are undecided on a major may work with staff advisors and are encouraged to take advantage of career-counseling tools in the Counseling Office and to take the World of Work course that assists students in picking a career suited to their interests. Students may email counselors with questions using the links provided on the website at www.noc.edu/counseling-and-career-center.
Students may make appointments with their advisors to enroll, but if they are unable to come to campus, they can contact advisors by phone or email to discuss enrollment needs. Students with general questions about degree programs can also take advantage of the “Ask an Advisor” function on the Academics tab of our website: www.noc.edu/academics. On the Academics tab, you will also find degree sheets with course requirements and suggested sequencing, as well as labor market information about the degree programs NOC offers. Students can enroll directly online if they have advisor approval and do not have holds on their accounts. If students are unable to come to campus to visit with advisors about their academic plan, they may email or phone to discuss scheduling needs.
Students can determine what textbooks are needed for each class by going to the NOC Bookstore web page at www.nocbookstore.com. They can purchase their textbooks and supplies at the Enid or Tonkawa Bookstore or the OSU Bookstore in Stillwater; they may also purchase books and supplies online and have them shipped to their home address.
Many resources for research are available through the book and periodical sections of the Enid and Tonkawa Libraries. NOC Stillwater students have access to the OSU Library. In addition, NOC offers electronic links (e.g. Ebsco Host, Proquest, World Wide Web Virtual Library) for researching online on the website at www.noc.edu/library. For assistance with any library or general research question, students can use the “Ask a Librarian” function at this link as well.
Most on-site testing is done within the classroom; however, our testing centers are staffed each weekday and extended hours during midterm and finals weeks to work with students needing ADA accommodations or completing one of the proctored exams required by all of our online courses. Students unable to come to an NOC location for a proctored exam should speak to their instructors about the possibility of taking exams in another instructor-approved testing site (e.g. a public university in their area) or of taking the exam using Proctor U. Note, other institutions and Proctor U do charge for this service. Students are responsible for scheduling exams and for any costs associated with testing at a site other than NOC. Tests taken for an NOC class at an NOC location are proctored at no cost.
Schedules for on-site peer tutoring are posted on our website at the following link: www.noc.edu/tutoringservices. NOC faculty are available during office hours and by appointment to assist students. If students are unable to come to campus for tutoring or are seeking assistance after hours, they may access tutoring 24/7 through Tutor.com. All NOC students have access to up to 300 minutes of free tutoring per semester on Tutor.com.
