Heath Howell earns Nevona Kegans Athletic Training Scholarship
Northern Oklahoma College Athletic Training student Heath Howell received the Nevona Kegans scholarship for athletic training Thursday night at NOC.
Kegans, a 1961 alumna of Northern Oklahoma Junior College; was a member of the Mavettes, the Women’s Basketball Team and served as dorm proctor in Easterling Hall.
She returned to her alma mater in 1963 where she served in many capacities within the athletic and student affairs department.
She was instrumental in establishing the athletic training program at Northern and retired as Dean of Women and HPE&R division chair after serving the institution for 40 years.
Kegans’ commitment to Northern and continued support will provide students a chance to pursue their higher educational goals at Northern Oklahoma College.
Howell is an HPE&R Athletic Training major from Perry, Oklahoma. Howell is the 9th recipient of this award and is receiving a $500.00 scholarship. Joining Howell on the court was his mother, Valerie Howell.
Presenting the scholarship certificate to Heath were Nevona Kegans Bossert and NOC Athletic Trainer, Summer McClure. Assisting with the presentation were Candy Oller, Director of Development and Planned Giving, Kayla Wooderson, Director of Development and Annual Giving and Athletic Director, Alan Foster.
