NOC nursing students receive pins in December ceremony
Eighteen Northern Oklahoma College nursing students received their nursing pins Friday night, Dec. 5, at the Kinzer Performing Arts Center in Tonkawa.
Those receiving pins were Aubrie Ailey, Ponca City; Logan Paige Burgess, Tonkawa; Vanessa Michelle Campbell, Enid; Kimberly Clingenpeel, Enid; Robert Evan Doran, Ponca City; Allie Epperson, Ponca City; Teel Huai, Stillwater; Kylie Jann, Stillwater; Regan Killman, Fairview; Sabrina Kinsey, Stillwater; Trinity Paige Legg, Tonkawa; Marleena Love, Stillwater; Lisa Paris, Stillwater; Valrie C. Roblyer-Galvan, Ponca City; Cherokee Sutton-Lopez, Enid; Sarah Way, Ponca City; Kenzie Webb, Enid; and Becca Willis, Ponca City.
Pins were presented by Dr. Nikole Hicks, NOC nursing division chair.
“You are each exceptional, and I am proud of each of you,” Hicks told the graduates. “I know my loved ones will be in good hands if they have the honor of having any one of you as their nurse.”
The guest speaker was Stacey Corneil of Pottawatomie Nation Health Services, a member of the NOC Nursing Class of 2012.
“We chose this profession to care for, comfort, advocate and make a difference in patients’ and families’ lives,” Corneil said. “I’m excited for the memories you are about to make, the knowledge and confidence you will gain, and the people you will meet.”
Several students received special recognition during the ceremony.
Student Nursing Association members honored were Aubrie Ailey (officer), Allie Epperson (officer), Paige Legg (officer), Valrie Roblyer-Galvan (officer), Kimberly Clingenpeel (officer), Sabrina Kinsey (officer), Logan Burgess, Robert Evan Doran, Sarah Way, Becca Willis, Cherokee Sutton-Lopez, Kenzie Webb, Lisa Paris, Marleena Love and Teel Huai.
Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society members recognized were Kimberly Clingenpeel, Robert Evan Doran, Sabrina Kinsey, Paige Legg, Marleena Love, Cherokee Sutton-Lopez and Kenzie Webb.
The Exceptional Preceptor Award was presented to Lindsey Wolf of Integris Health Ponca City. The Spirit of Nursing Award was presented to Kimberly Clingenpeel.
Following the pinning, Kenzie Webb led the graduates in reciting the Florence Nightingale Nursing Pledge. Sarah Way read an original poem titled “If Nursing School Could Talk.”
NOC nursing faculty include Dr. Vickie Crouch, Dr. Marie Head, Brian Baird, Elaine Briggs, Lerna Deyirmencian, Vanisa Gay, April Heitfeld, Rachel Kroemer, Wendy Spiva and Chelsie Taylor, staff assistant.
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
