NOC qualifies for Process Technology Troubleshooting Competition in April

Northern Oklahoma College Process Technology has qualified for the NAPTA Troubleshooting Skills Competition in Pasadena, Texas.

The competition is set for April 29-May 1 at the LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology on the San Jacinto College Central Campus in Pasadena, Texas.

Team members include Mark Goddard (coach), Eli Coffman, Ponca City; Dalton Pierce, Tonkawa; and Isaiah Jones-Grady, Ponca City.

“Northern Oklahoma College has been part of the TSC since its inception,” said Dr. Frankie Wood-Black, Division Chair for Division Chair, Engineering, Physical Science, and Process Technology.  “We are so proud that we continue to have a team qualify each year.  This just shows the success of our program and the talent of the local workforce.”

The North American Process Technology Alliance’s Troubleshooting Skills Competition (TSC) was created as a venue for advanced Process Technology students to demonstrate hands-on skills in real-time process problem solving.

Troubleshooting skills are necessary for developing a highly competent petrochemical workforce in the U.S., maintaining consistent high-quality production, and contributing to the security, safety, and regulatory compliance of our facilities.

This signature event pits the best student teams from educational institutions across the country in a competition for the title “NAPTA Troubleshooting Champions.”

Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater.  Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.

The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
