Sosa, Rich named NOC Tonkawa Homecoming king, queen

Jose Sosa and Kailey Rich were named Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa Homecoming king and queen Monday, March 2, at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

Sosa is a sophomore from Laverne, Oklahoma. Rich is a sophomore from Prague, Oklahoma.

Other queen candidates included Jadison Ackerman, Kaidince Calvert and Kennedy Zook. Other attendants included Trystyn Estes, Waleed Khairi and Sam Nam.

Ackerman represented NOC Phi Theta Kappa. She is a sophomore from Edmond majoring in arts and sciences. She is an active member of the NOC softball team and PTK. She was escorted by Trystyn Estes.

Estes represented the NOC Artforum Art Club. He is a freshman from Newkirk majoring in art and is an active member of Artforum.

Calvert represented NOC Maverick softball. She is a sophomore from Kiefer majoring in arts and sciences and business administration. She is the captain of the NOC softball team and president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She was escorted by Waleed Khairi.

Khairi represented NOC men’s wrestling. He is a sophomore from North Richland Hills, Texas, majoring in nursing. He is an active member of the men’s wrestling team and the Wellness Center.

Rich represented the NOC President’s Leadership Council. She is a sophomore from Prague majoring in pre-pharmacy. She is an active member of the President’s Leadership Council, the NOC softball team, Baptist Collegiate Ministry and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Rich was escorted by Sosa.

Sosa also represented the President’s Leadership Council. He is a sophomore from Laverne majoring in chemistry. He is an active member of the NOC band, Rocket Club, President’s Leadership Council and Phi Theta Kappa. He has been named to the President’s Honor Roll each semester.

Zook represented NOC Baptist Collegiate Ministry. She is a sophomore from Waynoka majoring in psychology. She is an active member of the NOC softball team, Baptist Collegiate Ministry and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Zook was escorted by Nam.

Nam also represented NOC Baptist Collegiate Ministry. He is a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, majoring in physical education. He is an active member of the men’s wrestling team and Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 3,100 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater, and the University Center in Ponca City.   Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.
