Criminal Justice

Career facts

Criminal justice is the term for the procedure by which criminal conduct is investigated, evidence gathered, arrests made, charges brought, defenses raised, trials conducted, sentences rendered and punishment carried out.

Education

In addition to the general education requirements, Criminal Justice students focus on Law, Evidence, Investigation, Juvenile Delinquency, Addictive Behaviors, Social Problems, and Sociology.

Who is a good fit?

Criminal Justice advisory committee members (area police chiefs, sheriffs, and OHP) are looking for students with these skills:  a broad understanding of criminal law and the criminal justice system, communication skills, report writing, community involvement, critical thinking, decision-making, and listening.  Most of all, be honest about your background.
