Business is more competitive than ever before. People running businesses will be judged by how well they manage change, stay ahead of trends and learn the latest theories. Northern's Business Division programs can train you in the many skills required to manage a variety of businesses and internships provide the opportunity to practice those skills while earning college credits. Contact the Business Division or Counseling Office for more information on how to jumpstart your career.

The following organizations have offered internships to our students: YMCA of Ponca City, Perry Carnegie Library, Foster Corner Drug (Perry,OK), Baskins/Stevens/Freeland PC, Robert Sherer CPA, Chilis (Ponca City,OK), Pawnee Nation College, James R. Rodgers, Attorney at Law, Farmers Insurance, Insurance and Financial Services, Mitchco Fabrication, Northern Oklahoma College Financial Aid Office, Peachtree City United Methodist Church (Peachtree City, Georgia) and Alpha 2.




This small, five-year-old group ( is giving business whiz kids (some from top-drawer companies like J.P. Morgan and Deloitte) yearlong, paid fellowships with nonprofits that let them put their marketing, operations, and finance skills to work right away. Of 2013’s graduating class of fellows, more than 95 percent are working in social services.

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships are available for qualified applicants. Scholarships available to Business students include:

  • Earl G. Dodson Scholarship: Must be a full-time business student carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours and must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  • Curtis Jackson Memorial Scholarship: Must be a full-time sophomore student carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours and must maintain a 3.0 or higher.
  • Northern Business Division Book Scholarship: Is awarded annually to a business student in their sophomore year only.
  • General tuition and book scholarships: All are welcome to apply.


Shutterfly Business Scholarship

Shutterfly, a digital photo service provider, is proud to announce the $10,000 educational program they've established to help business majors like you achieve your educational goals. The program supports not only you, with $5,500 of the $10,000, but also your community by awarding $4,500 of it in equal shares to the primary, middle and high schools where you graduated. So, if you win, it's a win-win for you and your community.

There are a few simple requirements such as you must be at least 18 years of age, enrolled as a business major, completed k-12 education in the United States, and have no relation to any employee of Shutterfly. A short 600-800 word essay is required in the application. Application does not include personalized information such as ethnic background or place of birth and should not be included in the essay.
