The Northern Oklahoma College Board of Regents approved a resolution asking the state legislature to not change the state law regarding weapons on college and university campuses.
The regents met in Stillwater Monday afternoon in their final meeting of the 2019 calendar year.
“We want to express our concern for students, employees, and visitor safety,” Evans said. “We believe that current legislation is working and protecting campuses.”
Regents also approved a program modification and review for the Associate of Science Degree in Enterprise.
Also, the NOC 2019 Strategic Plan update was reported by Dr. Pam Stinson, Vice President for Academic Affairs. The report details initiatives for Student Quality of Life, Recruitments/Retention/Marketing, Quality of Life/Professional Development, and increased Revenue Streams.
In the program showcase, Vice President for Development and Community Relations Sheri Snyder highlighted her department. Snyder’s team is responsible for the Northern Oklahoma College Foundation, scholarships, printing services, marketing, public information, and alumni relations.
It was also noted that NOC placed second in the voter registration contest held during Constitution Day in September. NOC was second to Langston University in the division for institutions between 1501 and 3000 students.
The regents meet next on Feb. 12 in Tonkawa.
