NOC Enid Planetarium Show April 4

Planetarium Show

The April planetarium show at the Mackie Planetarium on the Enid campus will be offered on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m.

Planetarium Director Fritz Osell will show the night sky over Enid during winter and point out where interesting objects may be found in our evening sky.

Director Fritz Osell said Thursday’s show will highlight features in the Orion constellation and show the locations of Jupiter and Uranus near this constellation and the solar eclipse that will occur around noon on Monday, April 8 including links that will enable observation of the eclipse from a computer.

“We will present a full dome show for children about the legend of the constellation Perseus,” Osell said.  “Our feature this month is about the space elevator – a new concept in space exploration.  We will show visitors our night sky from Enid and point out stars having known planetary systems.   You will be quite surprised at how many stars have planets.”

A separate planetarium show will be held Monday, April 8, starting at 11 a.m.

Public shows will now be on the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. throughout the year.

There is no charge for the show.  Donations of non-perishable food items for Our Daily Bread are welcome but not required.

The planetarium is located on the NOC Enid campus.
