Application Process for RN Program for Current Paramedic Applicants

Paramedic to RN Bridge applicants must meet minimum program requirements for admission:

  • College retention GPA of 2.5 in required courses
  • HESI A2 composite score of 75%
  • Grade of C in required core courses
  • Active unencumbered paramedic license verified by the Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Attend required Application Orientation
  • Complete at least 17 credits of general education and core courses – these credits must include a minimum grade of C in:
    • Biology for Majors (or General Biology)
    • Anatomy & Physiology
    • Introduction to Sociology
    • Introduction to Psychology

To receive advanced standing credit, Paramedic to RN Bridge applicants must successfully complete NURS 1243: Transition to Registered Nursing with a grade of B or higher.

Steps to Apply

  3. Schedule the HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Exam [Click here for Testing Center]

Nursing – Paramedic to RN Application

If you have not yet applied to Northern Oklahoma College you will need to do so before completing this application for the NOC Nursing Program. Please visit www.noc.edu/students/future-students to complete your application to NOC and obtain your NOC student identification number before continuing with your application to Nursing program.

  • Traditional Applicants: Applications are due by March 31st for fall semester cohort and by October 31st for spring semester cohort. LPN applicants: Applications are due by March 31st for the fall semester cohort and October 1st for spring semester cohort.
  • Please enter email address to be used for routine correspondence about the Nursing Program and/or application process.
  • Please note that campus preferences are not guaranteed. In addition, during semesters with small cohort sizes all students may be required to travel to a single campus for all coursework.

    You will also need to request official transcripts be submitted to the registration office at NOC from each institution at which you have completed or attempted coursework. Details regarding the submission of official transcripts can be found at https://www.noc.edu/academics/academic-divisions/nursing-division/nursing-application/. Any holds (financial or otherwise) at other institutions will prevent transcripts from being sent to NOC and will delay processing of your application to the Nursing program. Applicants to the nursing program should complete official transcript requests as soon as possible. The process of transcribing coursework from other institutions may take up to one month after receipt of official transcripts at NOC. Applications will not be considered until all transcripts have been received and processed by NOC.

  • Questions Regarding RN Licensure Requirements

    The Northern Oklahoma College nursing education program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered or practical nurses. Applicants for Oklahoma licensure must meet all state and federal requirements to hold an Oklahoma license to practice nursing. In addition to completing a state-approved nursing education program that meets educational requirements and successfully passing the licensure examination, requirements include submission of an application for licensure, a criminal history records search, and evidence of citizenship or qualified alien status [59 O.S. §§567.5 & 567.6]. To be granted a license, an applicant must have the legal right to be in the United States (United States Code Chapter 8, Section 1621). In addition, Oklahoma law only allows a license to be issued to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and legal permanent resident aliens. Other qualified aliens may be issued a temporary license that is valid until the expiration of their visa status, or if there is no expiration date, for one year. Applicants who are qualified aliens must present to the Board office, in person, valid documentary evidence of: 1. A valid, unexpired immigrant or nonimmigrant visa status for admission into the United States; 2. A pending or approved application for asylum in the United States; 3. Admission into the United States in refugee status; 4. A pending or approved application for temporary protected status in the United States; 5. Approved deferred action status; or 6. A pending application for adjustment of status to legal permanent resident status or conditional resident status. The Board has the authority to deny a license, recognition or certificate; issue a license, recognition or certificate with conditions and/or an administrative penalty; or to issue and otherwise discipline a license, recognition or certificate to an individual with a history of criminal background, disciplinary action on any professional or occupational license or certification, or judicial declaration of mental incompetence [59 O.S. §567.8]. These cases are considered on an individual basis at the time application for licensure is made, with the exception of felony convictions. An individual with a felony conviction cannot apply for licensure for at least five years after completion of all sentencing terms, including probation and suspended sentences, unless a presidential or gubernatorial pardon is received [59 O.S. §§567.5 & 567.6].
    Applicants who are not permanent legal US residents or do not otherwise meet the above requirements should consult the Nursing Division Chair. Applicants seeking licensure in other states should consult license requirements in that state. Falsifying any records pertinent to this application can lead to ineligibility or immediate dismissal from the nursing program.
